Summer Shield 2014

U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy sailors from the Black Sea Rotational Force 14 participated in exercise Summer Shield 2014, April 7-16. Summer Shield 2014 was held at Camp Adazi, Latvia, and brought together forces from the U.S., Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia for joint training designed to improve interoperability. Part of U.S. European Command (EUCOM), the Black Sea Rotational Force 14 worked to enhance the capabilities of the Latvian Land Forces. These efforts have taken on a renewed urgency due to the situation in Ukraine and are part of a larger NATO and U.S. effort to reassure allies in the region.
