Special Operations Forces Capability Demonstration

The Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) and the concurrent International Special Operations Forces (ISOF) Week  were held May 21-25, 2012, in Tampa, Fla., also home to U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). For ISOF, SOCOM invited special operations forces members from 96 countries to attend, and many did.  The theme for this year’s SOFIC was “Building the Global SOF Partnership,” an initiative SOCOM Commander Adm. William H. McRaven has been leading, and international participation in the conference was highlighted by a similar involvement in the week’s Special Operations Forces Capability Demonstration Operators from approximately 10 partner nations participated in ground and maritime assaults, fastrope and helocast insertions, a military freefall water jump, and other demonstrations. The demonstration also highlighted SOF equipment such as All Terrain Vehicles, Ground Mobility Vehicles, a CV-22, MH-47, MH-60, and 11-meter NSW RHIBs.
