General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Moves 4,500+ Ton Zumwalt (DDG 1000) ‘Ultra Unit’

The first Zumwalt-class DDG 1000 destroyer takes shape as a massive 4500+ ton “ultra unit” of the hull is moved to be mated up with other units. The turtleback shape of the hull can be seen here, as well as the massive size of the “destroyer,” which is planned to displace more than 14,500 tons, some 5,000 tons more than a Ticonderoga-class (CG 47) Aegis cruiser.
