Two F-35Bs Operate From USS Wasp

Two Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters operated from USS Wasp (LHD 1) for 18 days of sea trials between Oct. 3 and Oct. 21, 2011. The first landing at sea of an F-35B took place on Oct. 3, and during the following 17 days of testing, the two F-35B Marine Corps test jets (BF-2 and BF-4) logged more than 28 hours of flight time and completed 72 short take-offs and 72 vertical landings. This was the first of three scheduled at-sea trials for the F-35B. The next is scheduled for 2013.
