Canadian Armor in Afghanistan

In this Canadian Forces Combat Camera archive video, Canadian armor covers road construction along Route Hyena in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in 2011. Canada had been on the verge, in 2003, of retiring its tanks in favor of procuring Stryker Mobile Gun Systems, or something similar, until combat experience in Afghanistan changed the government’s mind. The 2A6 CANs, with extra under-belly armor and other modifications, were flown into Kandahar in 2007, followed up by Leopard 2A4 CANs.
